Skegness 16 Sep

The team arrived at Skegness just after the pit gates opened!!!!!! "We're late!!!" Shouted Mike! Another first for the Lincoln Imp Racing Team, to arrive AFTER the pit gates opened. Once the car was unloaded an oil leak was spotted. This wasn't as bad as first thought, it was the washer around the sump plug that had perished. So, after some fancy driving the car was positioned on the ramps at the back of the bus and secured with ratchet straps, the plug was removed. This process involve Lea getting into the "Dutch" spirit of things and sticking his finger in the sump drain hole until the washer was fitted and the plug replaced.

The first race of the night was the Internet Fans' Challenge Trophy. Kev was drawn on the outside of the penultimate row. The turning point of the race was when "Air guitar supremo" Chris Cooke tangled with Hayley Parkinson and Tim Warwick on the seaside turn, this slowed down some drivers which led to Kev avoiding the trouble and finally finishing in 4th place.

Kev taking to the track for the IFCT race.   Dee Snider wanna be.. Chris Cooke coming onto track for IFTC Waiting to be gridded

Thanks to Pedro, Waz and the rest of the fans for making it such an enjoyable event.

The next race Kev was in was Heat 2. The car was running well, and with no damage suffered in the IFCT hopes were running high.. The decision was made to change to tarmac tyres all round after the IFCT due to the shale tyres overheating. Well, "you live and learn!" at around half distance Kev went into turn 3 and lost all traction on oil deposited on the track during the previous heat and slid gracefully (if not a little fast!) into the armco. After the waved yellows came out, the medical staff were on scene to check Kev over and after a quick examination he was out of the car and escorted into the middle. After the race the car was checked over. The rear panard rod was bent and the steering wheel was also bent. A bit of straightening later and both items were ready to be refitted and Kev had recovered enough to go out for the Consolation.

The consolation was a bit of a non event apart from, a snapped shock absorber, punctured back left and another visit to the fence. this again kept the team busy to try and get Kev out for the Grand National. The Grand National was a fast and furious race, as always at Skeg, thankfully Kev managed to finish and come off the track without the aid of a tractor!

In summary, another exciting night of racing at the team's home track. A big thank you, again, to Pedro and the Stoxnet folks and fans for the IFCT support. It was great to see you all again, even if we were a bit busier than usual between races.
